Down Under in Australia, New Zealand, Southern Africa & South America, the summer continues on & the hottest times are still ahead.
ALGAE & BACTERIA GROWTH IN YOUR POOL:
January brings hotter weather for those in the Southern Hemisphere & with it warming of the pool water & a lot more use of the pool.
KEEP THE CHEMICAL ADDITION & FILTER TIMES UP:
Algae & Bacteria grow more rapidly as water temperature rises especially when it goes above 28C.
A dramatic change can occur overnight in the pool water if you continue to only add what appeared to be an adiquate amount of chlorine & filter run time previously, once the water reaches 28C this needs to be increased.
DON'T GET CAUGHT NAPPING: Start running the filter for at least 8 hours a day & make sure to check & correct the pH once a week & increase the chlorine dosage for January & February.
DON'T SUBJECT YOU & YOUR FAMILY TO POSSIBLE INFECTIONS FROM THE POOL.
Remember your pool is there to enjoy & you will be able to enjoy it if you keep ahead of any problems. A little extra cost for power & chlorine is far cheaper than the worry of a child with an ear infection or cleaning up a green pool.
SAFETY FIRST:
If you have purchased a pool for Christmas, no matter how small, make sure you teach small children how to swim or have them taught before they use the pool by themselves, this includes the neighbours kids, say "Sorry but no use until you can swim".
Remember to supervise children at all times in the pool.
