AK200 ADVANCE INFORMATION
Introducing the worlds first and only THREE POOL CONTROLLER!
Acu-Trol, The Clear leader in technologically advanced chemical
automation goes one step further by introducing the first modular chemical
controller, the AK200. The AK200 base unit includes the motherboard,
display, enclosure, 4 DPDT relays and a power supply. The customer may
select from a number of modules (including measurement, additional relays,
communications, as required and simply plug them in for the added features.
TOTAL NEW LOOK: The AK200 is the first chemical controller
to use touch display technology. The 640 character back lit display has
96 touch sensitive buttons built into it. The AK200 doesn’t have mechanical
buttons and knobs cluttering up the front panel.
The AK200 is designed to work in any and all possible configurations
of pool/water care control. The dilema is that each customer has different
needs that require varying amounts of relays and their functions. The AK200’s
modular approach allows the customer to purchase only what they need, and
then to add on as there needs change. Other controller manufacturers offer
options rather than modules, an option needs to be initially purchased
as the manufacturer will add the specific option to the product. A module
can be purchased at any time and the customer may simply install it, similiar
to adding a modem to a personal computer.

AK200 Base Controller Specification

The controller uses a 16-bit microprocessor with the following features:

MEMORY: 128K EEPROM program memory, 32K data ram and 4K-cache ram.

TIME: RTC (real time clock) that keeps track of time in the absence of
power.

RS232 Connector allows direct access to an external PC.

NEMA 4x Watertight Enclosure.

640 Character graphical Display, w/ 96 Touch Switches built in.

OUTPUTS Relays: 110/220 VAC, 24 VAC.

INPUT Power: 110/220 VAC.

LED Back-light and adjustable display contrast.

THREE POOL MODULES: Allows for measurement of the parameters on 1 to 3
pools.

COMMUNICATION MODULE: Allows for adding a modem for remote communication.

RELAY CONNECTOR: Allows for connecting the first 4-relay block with power
supply.
RELAY MODULE
The AK200 supports up to 64 relays that come in 4 relay modules.
There are different types of relay modules that can support any type of
load. The modules are connected to the previous module and the first module
is connected to the AK200 controller. The following part numbers show the
differences:

AK201: 4 DPST relays with power supply. This is the first module that includes
the supply voltage for the AK200 controller and downstream relay modules.

AK202: 4 DPST relays without power supply.

AK203: 4 SPDT relays (future).
COMMUNICATION MODULES

AK220: 14.4 Kbaud modem allows for remote communication, pager notification
on alarms, remote reprogramming.

AK221: Adds voice capability, allowing the AK200 to talk to you when
you call on a regular phone (future).

AK222: Adds RS485 and CAN (Controller Area Network) for interfacing
with other industrial equipment (future).
SENSOR MODULES
The AK200 controller can interface with up to three sensor/output
modules. The AK230, AK231 and AK270 use the serial bus connection and don’t
require the usage of a sensor slot. The ppm measurement uses the Ampiometric
PPM Self-Cleaning Sensor.

AK210: pH, PPM, ORP, 2 Digital Flow, Temperature, AK1130 flow cell
and Conductivity. Conductivity and digital flow sensors not included.

AK211: pH, ORP, Temperature & Conductivity

AK230: Output module. 8 (0 to 10Vdc) outputs, not isolated (future).

AK270: Dual pressure sensor, used for filter backwash control.

AK231: Output module. 8 (4 to 20mA) outputs, isolated (future).
APPROVALS
The AK200 will be designed to meet safety certification for UL,
CSA and CE.
